There are moments in Scripture where the voice of God cuts through history with such clarity that it reshapes everything. One of those moments happens in Exodus 3:14, when God reveals His name to Moses: “I AM THAT I AM.”
Eheyeh Asher Eheyeh, the One who simply is, who always will be.

Centuries later, Yeshua steps into the world and echoes that same eternal name. John’s Gospel preserves seven profound declarations where He says, “I AM…” Each one is a revelation, a doorway into understanding who He is and what He offers to those who believe.
At the centre of these declarations stands one of the most quoted, most challenging, and most beautiful statements Yeshua ever made:
“I AM the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through me.”
– John 14:6 (CJB)
This isn’t just a theological claim, it’s an invitation.
I must confess, this verse has stretched me. Like Thomas, I’ve found myself asking, “What is the way?” and “How can I follow it faithfully?” , even after spending the week with it my mind is still trying
The Word Became Flesh
John opens his Gospel with a staggering truth: “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us… full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).
Yeshua is not merely a messenger from God; He is the manifestation of God. God in the flesh. The One who teaches words full of grace, who embodies truth, who reveals the Father.
To believe in Him is to believe that God stepped into our world to make Himself known.
The Seven “I AM” Declarations
John structures his Gospel around seven identity statements of Yeshua, each one a facet of His mission and character:

- The Bread of Life – John 6:35, 48, 51
The One who nourishes the soul. - The Light of the World – John 8:12; 9:5
The One who dispels darkness and guides our steps. - The Door – John 10:7, 9
The entry point into safety, belonging, and salvation. - The Good Shepherd – John 10:11
The One who knows His sheep and lays down His life for them. - The Resurrection and the Life – John 11:25
The One who conquers death and restores life. - The True Vine – John 15:1, 5
The source of all spiritual fruitfulness. - The Way, the Truth, and the Life – John 14:6
The path to the Father, the embodiment of truth, and the giver of life.
Each declaration is both a promise and a call, a reminder that faith is not abstract. It is relational. It is rooted in the person of Yeshua.
The Way of Holiness
Isaiah foresaw a “Way of Holiness” (Isaiah 35:8), a path where the redeemed walk in safety and joy. Yeshua fulfills that prophecy. He is the Way, not merely a guide, but the path itself.
Through Him, we have access to the Father by one Spirit (Ephesians 2:18).
Through Him, we are reconciled, atoned for, and welcomed.
The Call to Believe
Hebrews 11:6 reminds us:
“Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
Belief is not passive. It is a posture of the heart, trusting that God is, trusting that He rewards those who seek Him, trusting that Yeshua truly is who He says He is.
A Prayer of Gratitude
Dear Abba,
Blessed are You, my God, Sovereign of all the universe. I thank You for sending Yeshua to make a way for me. I thank You for all that You are and all that You do.

Walking Forward
To believe in Yeshua is to step into a story far bigger than ourselves, a story of redemption, revelation, and relationship. His “I AM” statements are not just theological truths; they are lifelines. They anchor us. They guide us. They reveal the heart of God.
And they invite us to walk, confidently, joyfully, in the Way He has made.
